The brief

What the project needed

An 8,000 square foot commercial building — the whole building — on one of the busiest roads in Asheville, with a rail line running behind it. The brief was straightforward: windows that looked right on a modern elevation and performed, at a cost that made sense across twenty-one openings.

The problem

What made it difficult

Twenty-one openings on a building that sits between a main road and a railroad. Sealing and acoustic performance were doing more work here than anywhere the glass simply had to look good. Fixed and sliding units throughout, tempered, in a 5 mm / 12 mm argon / 5 mm build-up.

The decision

What we specified, and why

Units were small, access was good, and nothing about the elevation demanded a special approach. Twenty-one openings, measured, fabricated and installed without a revision.

That is worth saying plainly. Most commercial glazing does not need heroics — it needs the sizes to be right the first time and the schedule to hold.

The outcome

How it turned out

Twenty-one openings, each measured once and fabricated to that measurement. No remakes, no site rework, no revision to the schedule.

On a commercial building that is the entire result. Glazing that arrives right stops being something the contractor has to manage, and the rest of the build carries on around it.
