What brands do you supply?

We supply Aluprof and Cortizo systems alongside our Everva private-label aluminum line. Every system is custom-fabricated to your project's specifications. Manufacturer factory warranties do not transfer to the buyer - all warranty coverage on an Everva order is ours, handled in North Carolina.

What are tilt and turn windows?

Accepted Answer

Tilt and turn windows open two ways from a single handle. Turn the handle once and the sash tilts inward from the top for secure ventilation. Turn it again and the sash swings fully inward like a door, for cleaning, egress, and maximum airflow. The mechanism is standard across European systems and uses multi-point locking hardware that seals the sash against the frame at several points rather than one.

Why do European windows open inward?

Inward-opening sashes let the same hardware do two jobs - tilt and full swing - and they seal by compressing against the frame rather than pulling away from it, which improves air-tightness. They also let you clean the outside of the glass from inside the room, and they never conflict with screens, awnings, or anything mounted outside the opening.

Why does custom aluminum cost more than stock windows?

A stock window is built before you order it and pulled from a shelf. A custom aluminum system doesn't exist until your dimensions, glazing, and finish are locked - then it's fabricated to your opening and NFRC-rated as that exact configuration. You're paying for fabrication and capability: slim sightlines from 20mm, glass spans past 12 feet, and frame depths matched to the wall, none of which a stock product can deliver.

Do I need a permit to replace windows in North Carolina?

Usually not for a straightforward swap. Under current North Carolina rules, no permit is required for non-structural residential window replacement costing $15,000 or less, as long as the work meets the State Building Code. You'll need a permit if the opening is being enlarged or structurally altered. Local jurisdictions, HOAs, and historic districts can add their own requirements, so confirm with your local office first.

Aluminum vs. vinyl - which is right for a high-end home?

For a design-led or high-performance build, aluminum's advantage is structural: it carries larger glass on slimmer frames, so you get more view and cleaner sightlines than vinyl can hold - Everva profiles run to 20mm sightlines and spans past 12 feet. Vinyl is cheaper and naturally corrosion-resistant, which makes it a sensible budget or coastal choice. Aluminum wins where the architecture, the glass spans, or the spec sheet are doing the talking.

What is a thermal break, and why does it matter?

A thermal break is a strip of low-conductivity material - usually glass-reinforced polyamide - set between the inside and outside halves of an aluminum frame. It interrupts the heat that would otherwise pass straight through the metal. The width of that break is the biggest driver of frame performance: a wider break means a warmer interior frame, lower U-factors, and less condensation in winter. It's the reason a modern thermally broken frame performs nothing like the old single-pane aluminum of decades past.

How long do aluminum windows last?

Aluminum does not rot, warp, or swell with humidity, and a baked-on powder-coat finish does not need repainting the way a painted or mill finish does. Service life depends far less on the frame material than on three things: finish quality, thermal-break construction, and a clean installation. A well-built unit installed correctly outlasts a cheap one of any material.

Thermally broken aluminum with advanced polyamide inserts, warm-edge spacers and triple glazing reaches U-factors as low as 0.21. For PHIUS, the standard most US projects certify under, window targets are set by opening size and your local design temperature rather than by a single product threshold - so we spec the glazing build-up to hit your project's number and give you the NFRC data your energy modeller needs. We do not hold PHI component certification.

Are aluminum windows a good choice for coastal North Carolina?

With the right finish, yes. Bare or low-grade aluminum is vulnerable to salt-air corrosion, so near the coast the powder-coated, corrosion-resistant finish is what matters - and our impact line carries Florida Building Code approval and Miami-Dade NOA for high-wind and coastal zones. Inland and in the mountains, corrosion is a non-issue, and aluminum's strength and slim sightlines are a straightforward win.

Who handles the warranty?

Everva does. You buy from Everva in North Carolina - not from the manufacturer overseas. We handle every warranty claim, hardware adjustment, and replacement directly. No overseas escalation, no manufacturer runaround.

How long is the warranty?

Accepted Answer

10 years. Every Everva product carries a 10-year quality warranty against manufacturing and material defects, regardless of who installs it - if a product fails, we replace it free of charge and handle the manufacturer claim on your behalf. When Everva installs your products, you also receive 5 years of free support: hardware adjustments, fine-tuning, and minor repairs not related to product failure. Some service may be subject to a fee. Not covered: physical damage, misuse or abuse, normal wear and tear, or installation issues when installed by others.

What if a pane breaks during construction?

We partner with a local NC glass plant to cut replacement insulated glass units locally - no waiting on a container from overseas. European systems use internal glazing beads, so the glass can be swapped without removing the frame from the wall.

What's the lead time?

Accepted Answer

10-14 weeks from confirmed technical drawings. Every Everva system is cut to your project's exact specifications - not pulled from warehouse stock. Plan to sign the window order during foundation pour rather than at framing complete.

How do payments work?

Accepted Answer

Two structures depending on order size: 60/40 (60% deposit, 40% on delivery) or 50/40/10 (50% deposit, 40% on arrival and inspection, 10% post-installation). Quotes hold for 30 days.

Both. Everva supplies and installs in North Carolina. We coordinate field measurements, fabrication, container delivery, and installation in a single workflow - so you have one point of contact from spec to finished opening.
